I go off to the south of France for my well earned holidays and when I return diskant is broke, my email is broke and no-one has posted on the weblog. No surprises there then. If you haven’t heard, we’re in the middle of a big re-organisation at diskant with me wielding the big scissors. So it’s goodbye to the events, the go see sites, the forums, the guestbook and so many other little things. End of an era really. Ah well, think of all the free time I’ll have.
So, France was fun. My parents spent the time forcefeeding us yoghurt, bread and wine and taking us on wild goose chase drives across the Dordogne in search of aquariums. Sadly all fish seem to hibernate in France and they were all closed. Nonetheless we saw some big crocodiles and scary snakes in REPTILAND, some eagles and scary vultures at Rocamadour and all manner of wonderful scenery. Hurray.

It’s markedly less glamorous than Adrian’s though since I am, woo, a christmas postal sorter. I’m doing mail for London so if you’re expecting anything from the Glasgow area and it’s late you can quite possibly blame me! Now, the more mail there is making its way through the Glasgow area, the longer they’ll be needing to keep me on. So if you all send me a christmas card you’ll be wishing me a merry christmas AND keeping me in a job. In fact, send me a mix tape as well so I’ve got something new to listen to on my rather long and boring walk to and from work. I appear to be walking along the route of the Dodgy Pub Crawl – there’s about 12 of them, none of which I would set foot in on fear of stabbing. Email the diskant Robot for the diskant postal address. Also, me working 6 days a week for the next while means diskant updating/mail replying may go somewhat out the window. My advance apologies for being a lazy slacker. I need the money though. Blub etc.

First Pretty Girls Make Graves stayed at our house last night and were very nice so go see ’em if you get the chance. They’re doing London and Reading this week.
Finally, I got the new issue of Tasty fanzine in the post. I should snub it like how Sam snubbed our housewarming party but hey [hoho]. Unfortunately my copy was printed by a photocopier with Impressionist ambitions meaning it’s a bit of a struggle to read. At least it wasn’t into Abstract Expressionism I suppose. Anyway, it’s in honour of the forthcoming Tasty gig in Nottingham next Monday [featuring The Lollies, Darren Hanlon, The Liberty Ship, Kosmonaut and Dallas Burn if you’re interested, which you should be] and gives you a run down of who they all are. The Lollies kick in a UK tour diary which is good fun and good reading and there’s interviews with Ant, Chumbawamba and The Reverse [who feature a certain diskant columnist] as well as the usual stack of reviews and the political article [Immigration this issue]. Tasty’s getting reliable now so if you want indie pop and politics you know where to go. Free as always from the website or the gig.
